Ms. McLain has long been a student and advocate of self-development and seeks to assist clients to further express and inspire themselves through their home décor; thus the tag line, "Design from your Heart to inspire your Soul."
Currently located in Jacksonville, Florida, Maureen has taken her twenty years of design education and practice, and combined it with her human potential education and her passion of environmental and health issues to create Heart and Soul Interiors.
The goal is to assist others in creating a beautiful home interior that is environmentally healthy, as well as encouraging them to improve their physical well being (diet & exercise) and emotional well being (human potential). She agrees with an old song lyric, "you can't have one without the other."
Formal Education: Ms. McLain graduated cum laude with a BA in Interior Design from California State College at Long Beach. She received an AA in Home Economics with an emphasis in nutrition from Orange Coast Community College. Continuing education has centered around nutrition, affect of color and lighting on environment and health, as well as photography, and video.
Design Experience: Includes franchise mall store design, model home design, residential design and restaurant design. Because of her experience in sewing, she even designed a thematic uniform for the wenches, or rather, waitresses at a local California restaurant.
In addition to design: Maureen also conducts seminars in creativity and emotional goal achievement AND educational seminars on nutrition, health and wellness. She welcomes the opportunity to speak to groups regarding home design, personal health, creativity, and emotional balance.
